SARA LOVERING is a Berlin-based filmmaker with a focus on post-production and cinematography. With a background primarily in analogue photography and film, her portfolio centers on visual storytelling rather than conventional narrative. Professionally, she works as an image maker and editor in the fields of documentary, dance, and fashion, but her first love will always be experimental and expanded cinema. Lovering’s current artistic investigations toy with perception of space within physical architectural structures tied to a philosophical inquiry into philosophical and cultural perceptions of consciousness. As a result of these varied influences, her films consistently play with an offbeat mash-up of documentary and fiction.
Lovering’s work has been exhibited at Microscope Gallery (NYC), Beursschouwburg (Brussels), Die Fabrik (Berlin), Galeria Zé dos Bois (Lisbon), Museum der Bildende Kunst (Leipzig), Seattle Art Museum, and Tacoma Art Museum.
